Have you ever witnessed a problem and thought of building a contraption that could solve that problem? All people have a creative nature and can design devices. Engineers approach designing by following a similar process like scientists do.

The engineering design process is what engineers use to help them design a prototype to solve simple problems with creative innovations. The steps are essentially the same although you will find them organized differently depending on where you look. Here it's split into four main sections to help you complete your engineering project: Planning, Building, Testing, and Applications.

The four sections include the seven steps of the design process: (1) Issue, (2) Solutions, (3) Design, (4) Construction, (5) Testing, (6) Iterations, and (7) Industry Applications. There are some overlap between the Inquiry steps of science and the Design steps of engineering especially during the testing phases.
